IICRC Certified SERVPRO Technicians Understand the Importance of Drying Out Your Property After Flooding

When a neighborhood in Minneapolis suffers through torrential downpours, flooding caused by creeks and streams overflowing can quickly happen. Many times, this crisis gives little warning and homeowners do not receive very much time to prepare.

When homeowners start restoring their homes from flood damage in Minneapolis, many different things must take place. SERVPRO technicians can help your family recover faster by performing the work for you. Not only does this keep your family members out of harm's way, but our extensive experience means we know how to rapidly restore your home while staying safe ourselves. The intricacies that we learned in previous jobs help us immensely, as does our work in obtaining IICRC certificates.

Because water that travels across lawns, streets, and other areas, often originating in a stream or pong, before it enters your home, the number of pathogens contained in that water can reach enormous numbers. These microscopic entities can become embedded in the tiniest cracks within your home's interior and live as long as conditions permit them to do so. We alter the interior environment of your home to make it less conducive to the survival of these microbes. Although we remove the majority of them when we remove any remaining water from your home, many remain behind.

Removing your home's carpeting wherever it shows saturation from the flood keeps flood damage from escalating and also removes additional microscopic organisms within the soggy carpet and padding. We bag up carpeting and padding much the same way we do drywall sections. Once we eliminate the carpeting, we use heated floor mats to extract the remaining moisture from your flooring. This process kills off any escaped microbes as it dries out your sub-floor.

Clearing your home of any residual moisture that condenses on surfaces above the waterline happens as we dry out the air with air movers and desiccant machines. Air scrubbers clean the air and strip it of pathogens, including mold-causing spores, so we use these effective machines, also.

One thing that we cannot safely clean to an acceptable, preloss condition and assure your family's safety and good health involves your food. Even after extensive cleaning, food in canned and jarred containers can cause illnesses if consumed, regardless if cooked per the directions. Health regulations dictate the disposal of these items. We can help you dispose of these items, just as we do the rest of the items affected by flood damage. We can include these items on inventory sheets to help you process the insurance claims.
